Just had some decals arrive for the Road Runner. The instructions describe two ways to fit them, dry or using soapy water. Which is the best way?

If you are confident you can fit the birds dry, but be warned once they touch thats it, get it slightly wrong and you need new ones.

If you are not confident, mist spray a 1:10 ratio of fairy liquid and water on the area and pop them on, if you get them wrong they will slide into place, then squeegee them down and peel the cover paper of slowly and flat to the decal, i.e fold the cover sheet back on itself, don't pull it off at right angles or you will damage the decal.

I've fitted stripes and small decals before and always done it dry. My concern is the cost of getting it wrong on the Road Runner, these decals are not cheap. The trunk lid decal must be over five foot long! Think I'll go for the washing-up liquid method to give me the best chance.

Ooooh if it is the stripes then soap and water for sure, the dry method is only for the birds....

Definate wet job that one.Done my R/T tail stripes and I did not find it easy!!Did the 2 quarters first, then joined the 2 up across the boot.Still ended up 1/2 inch out  .Thats why I had them sprayed in gloss black last year.
Be carefull and I am sure you will be OK.Lets be honest....How many of us could spray a car black in a small garage one panel at a time and make it look that good?????Decals should be a POP :D

Havn't fitted them yet. Anyone know the exact position of the running birds on the front fenders? Looked at loads of pictures but it seems to vary.

I put the billboards on my Barracuda,
you gotta do it wet, there will be bubbles even with the Pro roller spreader i bought............ but they dry out and disappear after a few days

The guys at Plymouth HATED putting the Billboards on...and having done it and the time it took me, with no pressure to get to the next car, i can see why.

When i say dry, it just a "YOOFAMISUM" :D
they are actually air bubbles which disperse under the decal or even through it depending on the material type.
Bit like when you get your wallpaper up and it looks great until the air collects in pockets....but it goes

Just dont be tempted to try and push small central bubbles it out to the edge to disperse them.............. you will crease the decal for sure, and that wont go, unless you lift it and do it again ;)

There is not one bubble in my bill boards and it looked like it had chicken pox when i finished, took about a week to look right
The lower rear bit is how ever covered in stone chips from my slicks in the bleach box 8-)
