Welcome to the forum ! :D

As for the torque boxes, I am not sure sorry, I would be more worried about fitting frame connectors first :)

Welcome to the forum :hello2:

Ditto that on the frame connectors, they can help a great deal. There's alot of info on this on the old messageboard (check the 'Start here first'), and if you have (I guestimate) 400 horses or so already chances are they would help (though they also add weight!).

More important is to use chassis connectors if you use slicks.

Personally I would fit torque boxes at the very least on a completely stock car. Actually I would probably fit chassis connectors too.

Because the stiffer the chassis - the better the car feels to drive and the fewer rattles it has. No matter what the power level.

They were extra bits of plating added to each end of the sills "boxing" the area where the subframe attaches. Most hemi cars and convertibles got them as standard. So did a lot (if not all?) 440 cars.

Very good article here;

:iagree: Weld 'em in!!
I welded mine from front to rear x-members, but stronger still is welding them through the floor too.
This just got a lot easier - John Passman (sp?) now makes contoured frame connectors http://www.uscartool.com/Eframeconn/index.html, which make welding them in along their entire length much easier as you don't have to cut up the floorpan anymore :thumbright:

Or you can use the normal frame connectors and just weld in a couple of spacers between the connector and the floor. I shall be doing this little addition in the near future.
