Column shift lever mount

O.K.

I have re fitted the shifter lever to the column with a new spring and built the whole lot up on the bench and it's all good....but

The pivot holes on the casting are worn so I have no problem with the roll pin in the actual lever but the casting gives it nasty play.

I really need to go up a size in roll pin, which I have plenty of but the lever is hardened so I cant just drill it out...

Any suggestion?

Drill out what mate, the lever?

If it is, it can be drilled out, hardened or not. You need the right bit, a pillar drill for stabillity. very low speed and plenty of cutting compound/lubricant. Failing that, take it to an engineering shop. Small job. ;)

I use the "sharp bit, grit your teeth and press hard" method for those sort of jobs. Usually blunts the drill bit but gets through OK.
