hi does anybody know what the proper idel is on a 72 roadrunner with a 340 ci engine manual box mine is running about 1500 a bit fast cheers

750 would be about right methinks

Manual box is usually about 600 rpm with a stock cam. 800rpm with auto transmission. Anything over that and you are not even running on the idle circuits. I have described on here many many times until I am blue in the face how to set the idle so you have no excuse not to get it running as sweet as a nut.

Just to be more exact on the idle speed.
Manual 600-650rpm.
Automatic 750-800rpm.
If the car stalls at the lower of each rpm try going up to the higher level. However idle mixture, correct throttle position, and ignition timing all effect how well the car will idle at these speeds.
A longer duration cam will need more initial timing advance and other possible carb adjustments or modifications.

Note two.
Adjusting the idle mixture just rich enough for the highest rpm or highest manifold vacuum reading will give you a max power idle mixture of around 12:1 - 13:1 air/fuel ratio. Adjusting it lean again to give you a 20 rpm drop will lean it enough to save you a little fuel and keep your plugs cleaner.
