Watts Linkage set-up

OK Dave - at long last I?ve got pictures of the Watts Linkage set-up for you. Excuse the quality of the photos as it is very difficult to get everything into one photo when the car is only 18? off the ground. One point to note with a Watts linkage is that the two points where the linkage rods connect to the chassis must be at a different height. ? This difference in height must be equivalent to the effective length of the centre link (i.e. the distance between the two rod ends). I had to make up a new upper shock tower and added the necessary support brackets for the link rods. This made a much stronger connecting point for the link rods than simply welding a mount to each chassis leg ? as it is all one weldment and connects the rear chassis legs together. I had an Autocad drawing somewhere for the Watts linkage but must have deleted it ? if anyone needs clarification I will redraw the linkage.

Just resize to about 640x480 with IrfanView or something and save as JPG. That will bring the file size right down.

I guess what you are saying is the two linkage rods must be parallel to each other and the ground and the point of rotation will have to be exactly half way between the two inner rod ends.

Watts linkage is fitted as standard to early scimitar gte , i had one and it works verry well , if i can find my scimitar manual i will post the relevent pages
