Sorry guys, silly question coming up

what is a foward or reverse pattern valve body?

I ask as I'm lookin' at shifetrs and I dont wanna order the wrong one..

Forward pattern; PRND21
Reverse pattern; PRN12D
Stops you shifting through D into N in a race situation. Reverse is usually used with a manual valve body so therefore PRN123.

Ahhh, I see. No wonder shifters specify one or t'other.
