Got my new windshield today but....

Finally, after my screen cracking in JULY , RAC auto windscreens got my glass. (after me having to find it for them in the end)
I had to take the car to the depot today and I had to wait around outside for over an hour as they were busy, so I made use of the time by taking the pillar trims, wipers etc off and in fact getting the old glass out. I was instructed to drive into the workshop. (spose they hadnt guessed that I knew something about cars by this stage then )
I asked them to put sealer between the bottom of the rubber and the bodywork, rather than just dump the new screen in, as i've heard this is essential on these cars. I got one of those 'how dare you tell us our job' looks and I was ushered off to the reception area, and could not keep a watchful eye on what was going on. When had paid and I came out to the car, I couldnt see any sealer under the rubber, only betwen the glass and the rubber. I queried this, and they said something about the rubber being tight enough, and it didnt need any.
When I got back I ran some water from a garden hose down the screen, and , as i suspected, it came in the car, in fact, i could see a couple of slits of daylight between the rubber and the body!
for GOODNESS SAKE! Why is everyone convinced that the customer knows nothing and they know everything?
I rang them and told them, and they said, that my body must be damaged for it to not seal.
I am right, aren't I? Its supposed to have sealer?
If so, do i get them to just squirt some in, or should i get them to take the glass back out and put the sealer on the body first?
