trans mount
anyone put a poly trans mount in before? if so what was the ride like afterwards? i have put one in and the whole car vibrates now, at 2500 rpm smoothes out a little at 3000 but still not right thought i could live with it but can't, need a good rubber one for the nats anyone got one?
hi steve, just had both joints done, and balanced at propshaft services at gateshead, dave r thinks it might be the prop angles, other things i have to check is motor mounts, harmonic balancer, and the crank balance apparently the motor was done in the sates a few years ago new pistons rods etc, and ill bet a rebalance was not done , i just wondered if any one had put in a poly, and if it dramatically changed the ride, thanks for your reply, bye for now trev

I used one and it was absolutely fine, I guess it might be showing up a problem elsewhere (prop angle as suggested could be one), but I'm surprised. It certainly should not cause a vibration

hi sean, i suppose it would be done at the factory but to what tolerence? these mopes seem to be a bit hit or miss in quality controll somtimes, the balance thing, well the way i look at it is it's a bit like fitting a new tyre to your wheel, all tyres have a heavy spot and it needs balancing out so at speed it runs smoothly, and i imagine fitting new uj's and bearings has a similar effect??? can anyone enlighten us on this one?
just to muddy the water even more-
The headache inducing throbbing vibration which annoyingly manifested itself at exactly 70 mph is finally gone.
After messing with driveshaft angles and balance,I swapped the 'poly' transmission mount for an old standard squashy rubber one I had lying around. Whilst not exactly in the Lexus category for NVH normal service has now been resumed.
Just thought that being as this is an easy check might be useful to someone.
