1973 cuda chrome sport mirror help?

Post by newport100 »

Hi
Can anyone help?
I won 2 seperate chrome mirrors for my 73 cuda on Ebay - from 2 different people. After having em shipped to england I have found they are both different to each other and also different to the ones currently on my car- One of the ebay ones has a single screw fixing - I believe this is incorrect for my car - It also has the following numbers on the base- 3548617 53093 60394 and 6jc2 printed on the glass

The other ebay one has 2 screw fixing holes and the numbers 354873 53093 and 60432 401 and 1jc1 on the glass

any help greatly appreciated!

regards

Hi I haven't got a barracuda but that second mirror looks exactly like the mirror on my 71 Challenger

I have a very useful little book called "Challenger & Barracuda Restoration Guide" and this is basically what it says regarding sport mirrors:

Optional Chrome racing mirror for 1970 had the no. 2999549, whereas the painted versions had 3548053. Book lists both as remote type. The right hand (non-remote) equivalents were 3508989 and 3508990 respectively.

For 1971-72 the Chrome racing mirrors numbers changed to 3586642 (Chrome/ remote) and 3586649 (painted/ remote). The right hand (non-remote) equivalents for 71-72 were 3586644 and 3586650 respectively.

Unfortunately the book doesn't list the nos for 73-74 cars  sorry !

What it says tho is that if ur car came from factory with racing mirrors it will be stamped on the fender tag. That second mirror definitely looks like E-body mirror, so if you can't find option code `G36` stamped on the fender tag, maybe you have incorrect mirrors ? :?

Hope it didn't confuse you more than you already are...

The lower one looks like it's the correct one-71 up is a bit bigger than a 70 can probably check that tomorrow. Top one I have not seen before.

Cheers Guys

I have that restoration book although iv lent it out at the mo but will check it out!- My car decodes that it should have chrome mirrors - one being remote

I think the one with the single fixing hole may be from a bodys from 73 etc

Think ill probably paint em body colour when im certain they are the correct mirrors anyhow

cheers

Mark, Steve Beschi (AllKiller) had a spare pair for his 73 a couple of years ago, think they've now found a new home but I'm sure Steve would know which are correct for your year.

Not sure if he's on the MB much at the mo though, cos of his on-going house move
I could let you have his mob no if needed.

If that's ok Steve?

Mark sorry its a bit late...but the tops are both correct and the base in the second pic is correct, your problem is the base in the first picture.
I sold mine to Mo on here, as i picked up some nice ones at Columbus not long ago.
might be interested in any cast offs :D

Hi Steve
Nice to hear from you and thanks for the reply

Well- I cant believe it- the parcel arrived from China today- days after I oredred- I was expecting the worst but- It was beautifilly packed - there was no Duty etc to pay and the products look first class- Very accurate reproduction and quality is great!- Im well chuffed!

Ill take some snaps when I get a chance.

So I will have some leftover mirrors et when Im done Ill stick em on the board -
