Seats

I need some ideas on seats for my car. I have the original bucket seats that need recovering but could do with some race seats. How comfy are Jaz race seats on a bit of a journey? Don't want to end with a numb bum on the way to the pod!

I think Jazz are comfortable (they are definatiely "supportive"

), but a lot depends on mounting them correctly, as you obviously can't adjust them. The ones in the Sox are tiled a lot and i think that makes it a lot better on a longer run.

Looking at two padded Kirkey ally seats. I have one Jaz seat with a padded cover Seems ok. Open to suggestions?

ali seats will definately leave you with a numb bum on a journey, only 1/4 inch of foam and then a sheet of metal, at least the plastic seats have some give in them and are shaped to sort of fit.

I have a pair of these finished in black vinyl waiting to go in mine.

They're mega comfy

I used to have a pair of basic race seats very like those Cobras in my Aussie Charger. They were very light, supportive, and very soft on the bum. Even on long journeys. I made the passenger one easy to remove so I could sleep in the car when camping.

Not as light as a Jaz seat but about 80% lighter than the originals.

I've got "value" Scummit seats and covers with the ally mounts. I've got the passenger one out at the moment. I'll weigh it tomorrow. Don't have any issues with them, no numb bum etc.

Mine are Jaz seats, and i'm not saying they're uncomfortable, but l get a numb bum in the fire-up road!!!!!

Those old seats (and race harnesses) I mentioned I had in the Charger 770 were a bit tight for the larger lady.

My mate was working in Manchester and I gave his wife a lift down to there from Newcastle once. I think she "settled" into the seat properly by the time we hit Yorkshire.

Then when we finally got to Manchester it took both me and her husband 10 mins to pull her out of the seat!

She went back via train......

I've got to say it, I can't keep quiet any longer! Those Kirkey seats can't be at all comfortable for street use with those high sides, not to mention a pain to get in and out of, and they might be strong but they are the ugliest seat I have ever seen, obviously part of the "Widdecombe" range, why anyone would want to put thse in a '60's car is beyond me...wibble, wibble, in my day etc,etc...Sorry, I'll go and make a cup of tea and have a lie down for a bit......
