Anoraks out, it's carpet time!

Post by Ivor »

I know this sounds bonkers as mechanically my car is far from numbers matching, but I would at least like it to look that way!

Can anyone tell me what colour carpet I should be fitting?

There's about ten different shades of blue available from Year One, on the build sheet my interior trim code is H2B5 and it's two tone blue decor group (70 Runner) option.

If I choose any old colour off the web site, guaranteed it'll clash like a clashy thing, when I put the interior in and people like Alex and Jim will say "they never fitted that colour with that trim option you know"

My opinion is the carpet should be the same blue shade as the door panels and the headliner. As long as they match it will look fine. The guys at Year One should be able to advise you on this.

Sorry Alex, couldn't resist it!

Despite Roel's experience, it hadnt occured to me to phone Year One and ask...I didn't expect them to know, to be honest...thanks Dave

Brilliant, problem solved with plenty of options! :)

I have got all the Year One swatches on the Card as a part of history that came with my 1970 (!) Challenger 440 R/T.

The Challenger (B5) came with "BRB" which is Bright Blue; however it is very similar to "MEB" - Medium Blue - to the point that there is a disclaimer!

You are welcome to have a look at this if you wish.

All the very best,

Pete

Dave. Get a grip, I haven't got a Mod Top!

Thanks for that Pete, you may or may not be aware that your post has done me a real favour, because there was a scrap of carpet under the shifter and it was identical to Year Ones' Bright Blue. I just thought it was too bright to be original.

I might go for it, at least I know it matches the bright blue vinyl trim!

Hey Ivor, speak to them year one people as Dave suggested. I have spoke to them about my interior and they told me what the correct shades were called. Initially I was doubtful so I doubled checked on my broadcast sheet and fender tags and they were spot on.
Legendary were also good on this, but year one are cheaper!

For the record, Year one usually source their stock from Year one.

Richard Ward & I dealt directly with Legendary when we were restoring the 'Cuda and Superbird.
