Clutch

Post by JustinMFox »

Where can I get a new 3 Piece Clutch over here for my Charger? I will try WASP on Monday but I can't really wait for one to arrive from the USA because i'm not going to be able to leave it down our MOT garage for long as it needs to be done relatively quick as it will be in the way down there, any ideas? Thanks

If Chris can't get one and US Automotive have not got one on the shelf I doubt you will get one, WASp (Chris) is part of the Ampar group which covers most of the larger parts houses over here.

Do you think there is a chance Chris will have it? Also what information do I need to know what clutch to order as the gearbox on my Charger is not the original, I believe the gearbox is from a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner but i'm not 100%, and if ordering from the USA are there any makes reccomended over others , eg McLeod and and Hays etc, thanks guys

Spline count, diameter of plate.

centerforce are the best but they need carefull setting and sometimes the overcentre spring has to come off the clutch pedal.

Thanks a lot for your help Alex, just a few more questions, is there any way of measuring or telling whether it's 10.5" or 11" while the geabox is still in as it's a bit indecisive as we're talking just half an inch? Are there any other things that can determine what size it is other than measuring it? Numbers etc? Down our MOT garage the car has to be mobile so I don't have the luxury of taking the gearbox out and leaving it till the new clutch arrives. And is it possible all of them would be 23 spline as that's all Mancini do?

No there is no way of checking without pulling the clutch. Most were 23 but 6pack/bbl and Hemi were 18 spline, if you guess the law of sod will show you how wrong you were !

To pull the clutch is the prop and 4 bellhousing/gearbox bolts, starter and shifter, 45 mins max!
