can anyone advise
am swapping the no plate off the 62 plymouth, besides the vin plate in the door shut will this car have any stamped no,s on the body???
apparently the dvla inspecters dont accept just a plate with the no on very easily and like to see it in the body off the car ?????????

Dunc,

I've had loads inspected at DVLA Manchester recently and they have all been OK with the plate in the driver's door shut.... just tell them its all there is. Does it still look factory or has it been rivetted back on ??

it is deff factory, the car has been here since 96, dvla issued its no pfo 345
so i want to retain it, then sell car on just a bit worried, i have heard they are fussy with this plate thing about vins, the car is totaly legite so will argue case if need be, would just be easier if they have any stamped no,s as well like later b bods, will call you later anyway

Dunc, have you checked that the registration is transferable?

One of my old motors (it may have been the Buick) had a similar plate but it had a prefix from the wrong year, it was something like jhv 4b, and I was informed that as it was issued on an import, I could only be reissued with a correct age-related plate and couldn't keep the old one as it was classed as non-transferable.

May be worth checking.

If you have the V5 it should say on it whether the number is non transferable. I thought most of the numbers ending FF,FO etc can't be transfered.

That's right Latil, I've got an FF on my Velocette, it's non-transferable....those numbers are given to vehicles that have had there original numbers robbed...or have been "lost".
