Lurvely, but am I the only one thinking it looked just fine as it was? Was the paint that bad, cos it looks great in the pics.

Yeah the car looked good as it was but pictures always look better.

Although there's no rot, when the original owner had it painted there was a fair build up of paint in the shuts and the odd blemish here and there including the edge of the drivers door where I reversed onto a ramp with the door open.....ouch.

Originally it went into JPC to have a bare metal paint job but for the extra it may as well be done properly.....For example the underside had no paint in places and just a mild covering of surface rust. I felt it needed protecting against the great british weather if I'm to use it.

On a nother note I do have the original yellow steelies with hub caps for a full retro look. :? ....or does anyone know what the wheel/tyre sizes need to be for the "D"s?

Cant wait to see that when it's done :thumbright:

What finish are you havin on the underside: practical underseal? show quality body colour? mixture of the two :?

FWIW, the steelies n hub caps get my vote every time - too many Torque Thrusts around already (tho they do look good ;) )

Make sure you keep us updated with as many pics as you can :D

I've asked John to keep the pictures coming through the process so I'll post as and when.

Not sure what to do on the underside....wouldn't mind a vote. At the moment I'm thinking modern stone chip (fine) and body colour so it looks fresh and detailed/contrasting.

they do look good but i'm getting a bit fed up of 'em, after all it would have been the first thing anyone took off when they bought a new one

i would use dark dark gray stone chip on the complete under side , whitch replaces the dark gray factory primer , then spray body colour on the under side , matching how the factory did it. then black stone chip where the thick undercoating was sprayed from the factory . that's how i done mine .
looks like a good solid charger to start with :thumbright: . those first pictures you posted , i thought that was old pictures of mine

OK Dog Dish...what are they?

Torque Thrust "D" are the traditional with the grey spokes?

Torque Thrust II is what I've got fitted (Polished version) also available with grey?

"D"s are what I would like but wide ones.....How wide can we go

More picks of the paint strip pre-dipping decision.

more good / intresting pictures

#-o meant to say TQ D' s you can go up to 15x10 with a 5 " back space with a 295 /60 -15 on the rear , with out rubbing ,( providing the charger has original quarters , or reproduction ones that have the wheel arch flange trimmed , to match the original with. as re pops are about 1" too wide and the wide tyre may rub. not sure of the widest on the front , i would like to have 15x10 up front also but i don't see that going happen , with stock front arches . as i have set mine up more towards handling than 1/4 mile .probably go with 15x8
