dont know how much the block is going to shake about and at the mo the header is touching the bar.
should i have gone for another make of header on my 69 charger with 440 fitted?
Only TTI headers fit without a lot of work with the hammer. The ones I have anything to do with normally clear the torsion bars OK but touch the starter and the power steering box (on e-bodies anyway). You will make more power with the headers but they are a pain in the butt. I am getting a set of TTIs from Jim Wilson. They fit like a glove and are best quality. They also cost an arm and a leg.
But I have decided I can drive with just one arm and one leg so that is OK.
Not sure what headers I have, but theyre ruddy close to every thing! Only place they contact though, is the crossmember under forward floor pans & that is under certain conditions. A jimmy bar would probably sort that though.
there Hedman headers.
just dont want to stress them any more than i have wiv me ammer.
i could borrow oxy but so tight on starter (packet of fag papers).
oh stop it with the fags will yer, i gave up two nicotine patches ago (probably why iv'e been posting so much).
so shall i just let it clang on the bar then?
Don't let then hit the bar. You need to make them clear. Get the hammer out. Or a lever of some sort. Wedge something in behind where you want the dent so the tube does not just flex when you hit it.
A mini hi torque starter motor would be good, loads of clearence then, easier to do when headers are out aswell. You will only fry the old unit eventually!
