d100 steering
Hi
i have a 1972 d100 stepside, and have problems with the handling,
ive replaced all the ball joints and bushes etc, had the camber and caster ajusted tracking ect, but it still seems to wander all over the road,
its really hard work to drive the only thing left is the steering box does any body know where i can get a good exchange unit ive tried everywhere
with no luck, any advice would be much appreciated .

I went through the same process with mine, it was like driving a Land Rover
1st prob was the steering box. Tried to tighted up the slack and stupidly bust the adjuster inside
Found a recon steering box for £65, tons better!
This uncovered a crack in the chassis behind the steering box. Welded that up and welded in a cross-brace between the chassis legs to stop the chassis twisting.
What state are your rear springs in? Mine were pretty knackered and allowed the rear to move side to side. In the process of replacing 'em now, should be fab then

Re: steering
that describes it pretty well, it had a manualmoparkm wrote:Hi Mate if its like steering on ice then thats about right for a D100 but seriously try backing off the adjustment on the steering box to make it a bit firmer or change it to manual and build your muscles up
box when i brought it and managed to locate a power

response
