OK i am currently painting a toolbox and chest with cellulose primer and top coat.However i would like to add some sparkle to it so........

yep you can ,but you will need a bigger fluid tip & air cap . as depending on the size of the flake it won't pass through normal 2 pac paint fluid tip of 1.4 to 1.6 . can't remember the the the required set up for it / has been donkeys years since i touched the stuff . but the fluid tip & air cap on a 2 pac primer gun should do it . make sure you put the same quantity of flake in each pot full . also drop a couple of small 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive sockets in (clean) to help keep the flake from settling on the bottom . there is a special gun available for this stuff with a propeller mounted in the pot . you will need slightly lower air pressure for this , than than you would for the conventional single layer top coat stuff , also don't hold the gun too far away other wise when you put the lacquer on it will look like it has fallen in a sand pit. if the flake is sticking up after a coat wait until it is dry & wipe the panel lightly with a tack rag in one direction it will help the flake to lay down . put as many coats as required . then finish off with 3-4 coats of clear . may be a little wet flat between coats with 800-1000. sorry for the long-ish answer (Dogdish) but i thought i would give some info on this gear , to help any one wanting to tackle a bigger job
Steve'Bananarama! the nail on the head there, but my guess is he's not old enough to remember the old DeVilbiss JGA set up that was absolutely spot on for celly and flake! 
Or perhaps he's an old git like me!
Anyway, if you can get an old EX fluid tip and needle and a 30 air cap, you'll be laughing...you'll need a decent compressor to run it though, it consumes about 13.5 cfm.

blimey that's a blast from the past Ivor EX set up with a 30 cap i think there might of been a size bigger than that even , those were good old days the days , when bumpers were bumpers chrome or black . unlike today where you can spend the best part of a hour finelining & taping up the black bits that don't require painting. 
i never thought there was a gun that could rival the JGA for air consumption , until i changed to a couple of gravity SATA jet nr 95 1.5 's when they first came out . a bit old now but still prefer them to gti 's & the nr 2000 .
