440 inlet manifold bolt torque

I was fitting my edelbrock intake manifold and the workshop manual says that the bolts shoukld be torqued to 50 ft pounds, this seems awfully high for 3/8 bolts -any ideas? as i don`t want to pull threads or have a loose manifold

dodge factory manual =50 ft pounds
haynes 1971 thru 1989 = 45 ft pounds
how to build big block mopar engines = 50 ft pounds

sounds about right to me
