Tranny going in....!

Post by dustymopar »

My 727 is going in the Duster on Saturday (at long last :) ) what is the best way to do this,

1. Slip the TC on the input shaft n bolt to the flexplate once bellhousing is mated

or

2. Bolt the TC to the flexplate 1st n tranny to follow?

If ne 1 in the Essex area is really stuck for something to do on Saturday, your help would be gratefullly accepted. Other than that, the girlfriend will need to get under the car, lift the trans into place, while I line up and insert the bellhousing bolts

Your first option. TC on box, bolt up flex when mated.

TC has to go on and in totally. Oil the seal with TF and slide the TC in then spin it by hand 'til it goes all the way on, it will go back quite far to locate on all the splines. You'll have to pull it forward to the flex plate when it's all bolted in. Good Luck!

I treated Joanne to a new Trolley Jack last Christmas, she was thrilled to bits. It made a nice change to the usual ironing board cover - I know how to look after a Woman ;)

She's looking forward to using it for the 1st time this weekend

Great Minds!!

I bought Julie a lightweight pit Trolley Jack!

If Blue can assist me with dialling in th Cam, the replacement motor will be going in Julie's car shortly, together with a 3800 Stall convertor and a front end Lift Kit!!

Make sure that it engages all the splines as Kev says. It may seam like its all the way on but just make sure. I used to rebuild boxes back in the late 1970s and a certain club member brought is box round for me to fix after he had fitted it to engine with out making sure it was all the way on and had jammed the converter into the box . Had to cut the box open and he had to get another case, pump and front drum
