Mash the throttle and make some smoke. If you leave 2 black lines it's a posi. 8-) I had a very whiney axle, it was the wheel bearings. Yes, fill it 'til it comes out the side hole.

Jack up the back end and spin one wheel by hand, if the other wheel spins the same way, you've got a Sure Grip. :thumbright:
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

Put it up in the air & check for any sideplay on the wheels, hands @ 6 & 12, then hands @ 3 & 9. :thumbright:

A bit of movement in & out is OK.

Only if the preload springs are still effective. If they have weakened, the other wheel may not turn the same way, and may not turn at all. This doesn't affect the action of the posi though.

Otherwise, see Kev's advice.

If you have a stonking motor with loads of horses, it will leave two black lines, with an open diff. :thumbright:
