Legendary seat covers - fitting probs

Post by morgan »

All -

Anyone done a legendary seat foam/cover replacement ?
Foam went on OK - pretty good fit really.

Covers feel about 10% too tight everywhere - simply cannot get it to sit on the foam right (or even go over all the foam ! )

I have had them in the airing cupboard getting nice and soft, but no dice. Any hot tips ? Is it really just a case of forcing it ?

They need to be warmed up a bit, if it were summer you could lay themin the sun.
I dunno, try the airing cupboard, for an hour or 2.

Try talcum powder they did not have cling film when they put them on in the factory,if you leave the cling film on the seat you will get hot and sweaty as it cant get any air to the foam ,non smelly talc is a good idea

when I did mine, on the front buckets I first tried putting a bin liner over the seat (I`d read that somewhere) and indeed the cover did slide down easily. You then need to remove the liner - which is more difficult, I didn`t bother doing that with the other seat!!
They are tight, but they need to be. A LOT of effort is required to pull them into the right position and you really need three hands
Take your time and work methodically from the centre rear, outwards and to the front edge. Good luck :)
