Awwww ! Kev - we like those.
I used to have rats when I was a kid ! Like the one on the left - custard and chocolate colour !

Never understood peoples relucatance to them. They are tame, loving, and intelligent. Really great pets. Mine used to sit on my mums shoulder when she was ironing...

So much better than hamsters (crap) and gerbils (sleep all day, crash around all night, and go mental when you try and hold them).

Seriously - those with kids, rats are the answer...

We have been dogless for 5 months now and we decided that was long enough.

So we went up to the Cat and Dog shelter on Monday and brought home Billy (he prefers to be Bill though). We don't know how old Bill is but he has to be around 2-5 years old at a guess. His teeth are quite good.

Bill's owner died and although the owner's brother said he would have the dog he has not shown up to collect him.

Although Bill is quite well trained he was not very clean. I don't think he has ever had a bath or shower in his life. His coat is full of tats, of which I have cut some out, but now decided I may as well get him cut professionally so we can start from scratch.

He has a bit of a poorly tummy, infected ears, maybe fleas, maybe a bit of kennel cough.

But he is as good as gold. He is walking off the lead with us already. He stops on command (most of the time) and sits on command. He follows me around the house and lies at my feet all the time.

The only bad point is he keeps waking me up in the middle of the night. But he still has to settle down in his new home yet.

I am a great believer in the healing properties of dogs.

When I had Lizzie I always let her lick my wounds. But I also think walking with them and even just their company in the house is good for you.

I have not felt as well this week as I have any week this year at all.

nice one. I find animals are easier to deal with than people mostly :) Certainly easier to understand.

Its funny how humans behave towards animals. More tactile. I mean, if your mate invites you over because he's just got a new dog, and you meet it and start hugging it and playing with it, thats normal, but you wouldnt do that with a person, like say, your mates new girlfriend LOL.
