Front & rear screen on a 68 charger.

Post by NickB »

Can anyone help.I've removed the rear screen already from my 68 charger and am wondering if there is anyone out there who would undertake the refitting once the car has been resprayed?Pretty sure the rear screen was bonded in.The moulding clips that hold the chrome trim (which I have new ones) would have to be drilled out again as the bodywork had corroded badly where they originally went. The front windshield is still in the car awaiting removal but I am nervous about attempting this myself.Do I need to order new weatherstripping to put the screen back in?Any help would be great. :help:

the rear screen was bonded in, be careful when you put it back if you have a vinyl top to leave room for the check mark trim, i black siliconed the rear window trim in as them clips are a terrible rust problem waiting to happen. the front screen i am sure, is held in with a weather srtip rubber, a new one would be best

I did both the front and rear screens on my Road Runner...broke one front screen when refitting though

I cut the original screen gasket out to remove the screen as it was shagged anyway and used a new windscreen gasket, with plenty of silicone grease... second time around and it popped in a treat.

I bought a year one rear screen bonding kit and that was a piece of cake to put in, it was getting the old bonding stuff out that was a real palaver.
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

Thanks for the info. :thumbright: JPC is not far from me so may well have a chat with him.Question for sean68charger-how did you fix your rear chrome moulding trim for your rear screen if you didn't use the clips??.I agree with you that they are a rust issue so if I can avoid using them I will.Cheers,Nick.
