Anyone know what this?
I stripped the charger down about 18 months ago and labeled and photographed nearly everything for reference. Now I'm sure this came off my car and went into the "I won't forget what that is pile". Does anyone recognise this? There is also a spacer which fits into the eyelets, should there be another?

Not a good photo but it is very cold out there!
I had forgotten that I had removed the bottom end of it to get the headers out. But I think you can still see how it fits. The spacer is in the top end so that it clears the dipstick tube. The other end slides over the long engine mount bolt (in my hand).

Well I've just renewed my wiring all the way through and the only other earths were battery negative to engine, engine to body, headlight earth to body and alternator to body. Don't know if it is essential but I guess you could easily add one and it couldn't do any harm. My knowledge of car electrics is limited so hopefully someone else could give you a clearer answer.
'Fink. As long as your engine is well earthed to the body it doesn't matter where it is. I'd be suspect of a 30 yr old bit of boyden cable witha coupla tag washers bent over the ends and would make something more substantial.
