Howdy Dave, i rebuilt the box and all seems well needs a little fine tuning with the kick down, has a 4 barrel holley and isnt really a good fit on the carb but i think i have it sussed, the only thikng is the kit i put in is a TCI race rebuild kit with a shift upgrade kit, they reconmend to to adjust the front band in to 72 in/ib and return 3 1/2 turns is this too much, maybe im just being paranoid but when you gun it it seems to flare (very slightly) going into third, its fine when driving at a nice pace but just when driving hard it does this. Would it be wise to do a different adjustment on the front band.
Originally this band was toast and so were the clutches, have to do a fresh oil change and check the condition of the filter, but i did flush out the system when it was stripped so it should still be mint.

What grade of oil should i use, is Dexron III to modern for this box or should i use an older mineral oil?
Thanks Mark.

3.5 turns does sound a lot to me to. But I have never done a smallblock trans before.

Use type F fluid for a slightly firmer shift. :thumbright:
