Source for lighting gel? (for dash if you were wondering!)
Moderator: Moderators
Thanks a million Steve, I'm told by missus panel has arrived, will check for gel when I get home, I shouldn't need much at all so I'm sure what you sent will be fine.
Cheers

Steve,
sorry to go back over this again but I want to get the understanding right:
The bayonet cap LED lamps will fit into the standard wiring harness?
The LED part of the lamp will fit into the dash binnacle appertures without modification required?
The LED's only come in white, but you can get a liquid gel for recoating the lenses????
This sounds too good to be true.
I hope not, I am salivating.

Sprry Steve, I have another thing to ask.
So these LED's, you buy them through that site, and they will secure into the back of the instrument cluster for my Charger with no modification at all? So all I need to do is choose my colours, fit the LED's and I end up with a dash as bright as yours???
Thats fantastic. I'm suprised others havent latched on to this thread in bigger numbers.
Sorry for being a bit pathetic but thats a real cool tip

AFAIK the bulb holder fits into the guage cluster. so anything plugged into the bulb holder should be fine as long as its no longer or wider than the orginal bulb.

Clive, yep thats it plain and simple and less load on your circuitry
The only thing with the small DASH bayonet caps are i dont think they do the full colour range....but these guy will cuctom build you some if needed
Im doing the rear lights too, stop n tail and reverse, side markers and the front marker/ indicators
And trying to source a cheap conversion for the sealed Beams to HID's there is another thread on this

Well i never had a problem with the red indicator thing
But i know the guys said they could do a half red/ half amber rear light for an indicator in the reverse light
Then the wiring gets silly ....im not going there
Keep it original Clive in respect to wiring/lighting

Steve, gel arrived too, for info the turquoise is indeed an EXACT match for the Mopar colour. Thanks again
(BTW Clivey, if I understood your earlier post, all the talk of gel is just the name used for transparent flat sheeting, not a liquid paint-on gel. However Kev did suggest using nail polish earlier in the thread, in theory no reason that shouldn't work, and also for some bulbs at least (like the very small ones in my aftermarket gauges) you can get slide-on coloured bulb covers)

Yes, I think I did misunderstand that Gav.
My last question though, rather than being about changing wiring, it was about dual filament lamps i.e., where your side light performs brake light or indicator duties. With mine, the brake light flashes as an indicator so I assume there are three dual filament lamps in there. All dimish for side lights, bright for brakes, bright flashing for indicators.
Can the LED solution deal with that scenario???

Clive, the rear bulb has only 2 filaments
A 21 watt one which does the brake light and turn light same filament
hence flashing brake light on side indicating.
And lower wattage 12 i think does the tail light only
they do a LED bulb for this .....here
although expensive they will last virtually forever....and will not blow like a regular bulb....2 more benefits
U3803HR(380) 3Watt Cree Ultra High Bright 6- 30V S & T Bulb ......brightess but never used or seen these in action 3watt LED is damn bright
U38020W Ultraleds Light Tower 380 1157 S & T WA White Leds .....2nd brightest very good and bright
U38035R(380) 35 Red Led Stop & Tail Bulb (Single) 120%..... 3rd Brightest
good just not as bright
these are only avaliable in red LED and i have 2, im not using if you want to try them
Oh and the Nail varnish will eventually dry and crack and flake off...very quickly, and you'll be back to your regular colour very soon.
the Gel is virtually indestructable unless super heated..or set on fire and thats difficult too
One last thing the push in bulbs 501 type only work one way round as they are a diode...so if it does nt work turn it round and it will
