hi pete, the rods are complete with correct caps, got full set of eight that need to put some new pistons on,just wondering if theres a front and rear of the rod or can it go anyway round (the pistons have an arrow facing forward but the rods don't)if you know what i mean??

Yes there is a right way round to fit the rods. If you look at the big end you will see an oil squirt hole on one side. You want to end up with that oil squirt hole aimed at the oppasite cylinder bore when installed in the engine, so assemble as needed to achieve that whilst still keeping the arrows on the pistons pointing forward.

Hi Ray,
Are they press-fit standard pistons?
If so they need to go to a machine shop with a press and a special support boss to stop the piston being deformed whilst fitting the pin.
The other more common method is to heat the littlle to approx. 500 degrees to expand it sufficiently to slide the pin through. You only have a few seconds to align the pin before it grabs hold!
All this said, if they are floaters you are in luck.
p.s. if you dont get the pin in the right place with the heating method, you still need a press and boss to realign the pin. OOPS!
Baccy.
