The Production Version of the '08 Challenger
These are the first pictures of the 2008 Dodge Challenger production version.
The camera phone shots were taken during a Chrysler dealer announcement show in Las Vegas this past week.
Thankfully, Dodge has remained loyal to the 2006 concept with minor differences including the adoption of a (invisible) B-pillar, revised tail-lights, slightly redesigned rear bumper that’s about an inch longer in order to comply with safety regulations and the addition of a boot spoiler for the SRT8 version.
The first batch of Challengers, about 5,500 units will all be SRT8s with automatic gearboxes priced at around $38,000. In July 2008, Dodge will begin production of the ’09 models which will be offered with with three engine choices: 3.5L V6, 5.7L V8 and 6.1L V8 HEMIS.

The rear lights on the concept would be impossible to make UK legal.madmick wrote:shame about rear lights but still nice

No plans at all is the official position as far as I have been able to gather.hope to mope wrote:Will it be possible to get a right hand drive one, Dave?
I still like my original '70 Challenger better. But this new one would have the same sort of power plus all the new car luxuries and gadgits. Drive better, not make your ears bleed, not rattle and shake....
Nah. Think I would rather keep mine.

I'm willin' to bet that it wont be as quick as yours Dave or atleast wont feel as quick but might actually be quicker. As for the shape of it definatly not as sharp as the original and certainly not as nice in my opinion. I would rather a 70 to an 08 all day long.

The '08 is wider, longer, taller and probably a damn sight heavier too.
