SORN -Do i get my money back?

Post by MilesnMiles »

I want to declare my vehicle SORN for Winter. I can do this via the DVLA website, but cannot find any reference to getting my money back for returning the current valid tax disc.
Can anyone confirm that i can still get my money back from DVLA as was past policy?

You can still get the form from the PO,you have to have that to stick your disc on. :thumbright:

There is also a cut off for the number of months left to run. I think the disc has to have something like lore than 6 months left. Also, you only get a flat rate per month left. It used to be £8 per month. So, Shell out £183 for the tax, Bananarama! in with 10 months left to run, and get £80 back. It aint worth it mate, but I reckon you have already done it. :(

Not done it yet Clive, but the DVLA are taking the proverbial as ever. Looks like, fix car and use through the winter as in previous years

Seems to be a one way street with them , can't see why you can't get refunded for the remaining months left on it. :?

you need a V14 form- can get from any decent post office, post it off get most of your money back a couple of weeks later- no problem, then declare sorn, you will need to post it asap or you will lose another months refund

Andy , was six weeks late when taxing the van last week , the guy @ the post office said i gotta go to Borhamwood , as they can't backdate the tax.

If i hadn't of got the speeding ticket 4 weeks ago , would of said it was not used for a month , on me hoidays.

Ps , hows the BR&L?

as far as i know dvla still refund all whole months, even if only one month left. i've even sent back tax discs a couple of days late and they've still sent the money (takes them a few weeks for some unexplained reason)
