new battrey losing charge

Post by Anonymous »

My Dart is started up once a week and run for 5 mins. I went to it this morning and it turned over very slowly but did start. The battrey is very recent and worked fine when the car was used regularly. Do battreys 'drain' they are not used that frequently?

Starting the engine drains the battery. Running it for 5 mins is not enough to re-charge it. Put it on charge after each time you start the car while in storage.

Thanks Dave, I once read that running a motor at 30mph for 3 mins or so will charge a good battrey if all systems are ok. Urban myth maybe. thanks for the cam post too.

Disconnect the battery too while stored. Just in case you have something that is draining the battery while it is standing.
