BY JORDAN BROWN (Nov-29-2007)
It's time to cash in that Google stock and dig out the checkbook-pricing has been confirmed for the all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Chrysler's modern interpretation of the American classic is expected to resonate with enthusiasts, and with a starting price of $37,995, mere mortals can afford one. That puts it only $1400 north of the current Dodge Charger SRT8. The Challenger SRT8 will be the first in the model lineup to hit showroom floors in the spring, but you can get a first look at the production model at its unveiling in February at the 2008 Chicago auto show.
However, you'd better act fast if you think you want one-Dodge starts taking orders December 3. The Challenger will share the 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 engine in the Charger SRT8. Pumping out 425 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, this beast is sure to produce the same grins as it does in the Charger.
Dodge also tells us the car will feature a numbered dash plaque and the stylish carbon-fiber hood stripes featured on the Challenger concept. It will be available in black, silver, or Hemi orange paint.
As for the rest of the Challenger trim levels, pricing has yet to be announced, so we can only speculate at this point. Based on current Charger pricing, we expect a base Challenger to ring in somewhere around $24,000, with an R/T following in the $34,000 area. Either way, we're still excited for yet another addition to the bargain-priced muscle market.

I might get one too. But probably not in the early rush.
What worries me is if they get as common as 2005 up Mustangs. You can't move for 'em over here now. There are hundreds of them for sale at the moment in the UK. Of course Mopar would like that kind of success.
I reckon the new Challenger looks great, - 'just a shame it's not the Cuda the public would have preferred.
