Spot on Kev, it a sump. James was almost right as that is the impression left by the oil pick up pipe.

MOPAR - Move Over Power Arriving Rapidly

Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My Mopar upon you

Funny that Dave, when I took out the sump plug no oil came out and it was left like that for four days. So i assumed it had no oil left in it I was a little supprised when the sump was removed.

When I first wrestled the sump off the 318 with the engine still in the car it was a dead spit of that!

Yes i'm going to carry on with this one Ivor. At first I thought it may be scrap as it has got three pistons siezed in the bores, but I have been told by the man that does all my machining " I can get them out no problem". So once that is done I will be down to see you and Mr Benn to check out the block.

As you may be able to see there is no bore ridge all the bearings were perfect no wear, It has just been sat for a very long time. Its an early 1970 block..

Well nothing's ever too far gone, even if the block's got holes in it!

I bet you can't wait to see Mister Benn's probe...
