Racer Brown 1962

Post by Anonymous »

Had a phone call the other day from a Guy looking for a Racer Brown camshaft for ........ wait for it............. a 105E

Kinda sat there listening a little bit dumbfounded

The guy told me he applied to Racer brown in 1962 to be a RB dealer in the UK onlly problem was dealers had to vetted by Dunn and Bradshaw and the cost of that was down to the applicant which he couldn't afford.

Still sitting there bemused he asked again about the 105E grind   ...... he then tells me he will send me a copy of the catalogue.

:D :D :D :D :D :D arrived this morning, catalogue printed 2 months after I was born, damn fascinating to say the least, full prices and grind numbers in the front and a lot of old school tech in the back, which is pretty much still current to this day.

One thing I will say is camshafts cost a LOT more then than now.

Going to get Jo to scan the whole lot and may send it to be printed in the MMA mag if anyone is interested in reading it ???????

My little brother is older than that.

Yes the 100E/105E engine with aquaplane ally head was the muts nuts in the late 50s and early 60s. Used in the Lotus 7 a lot among other things. Mate of mine has one. Goes well in a light car.
