Steve, I don't think there are any permanent mods - there is a carrier rig which bolts on using the existing 4 holes, then the cap hinges on that, as you can see.

I don't have one - but probably will end up getting one.

Yeah, straight swap Bilko, done it with mine.
Dont forget the inner cap to seal the filler neck though, as the flip top wont seal. I converted my old cap for that purpose. Also dont forget, there is a stainless trim ring that bolts down with the flip tops hinged base.
So there are three items, inner seal cap (can get lockable ones), the flip top with hinged base, and the trim ring.

There are vented and unvented versions of the inner cap. You can get the unvented ones new for about $8.
