Hi GT, you mean this one?

I dont know a lot about the car, but as far as i know it was imported by Stuart Keen (MMA member & European Representative) a couple of years ago, as a 'survivor' (original paint etc).
He sold it on within about a year, later appeared on display in the London Motor Museum, then next I saw of it, Alan Carrington was selling it (or trying to) for 1.5 times the amount Stuart had it up for a year earlier.
Alan had it reprayed so was prob actually worth less now it had lost its originality & interest for most collectors

There's plenty more on here that will know more about the car - Adam, Jim, TonyO....

So has he had it repainted again to a higher standard? What justifies the higher price?

A car as original as that should be left well alone.

Can you imagine the Tate saying that old Turner looks a bit tatty around the edges, let's repaint it?

Might as well cut it up and race it!

Well, I will admit, I dont really give a stuff about a survivor status in a car. If survivor status didnt bring more money, neither would amost anyone else (except the 1% of total obsessive compulsives). It has to look nice. You have to think about the views of the owner on the paint job the car HE owned had. If he wanted a mile deep finish that blinded at 100 paces, and his Hemi coronet didnt have it, then he will get it done.

I dont know why we get so hung up on here about what other people do to their cars. They aint National treasures.

Just an opinion

i would think the guy who had it after al carrington did not fully realize what he had, a survivor, and prob could not live with it being a bit ropey round the edges hence the repaint,

I think a slightly shabby original, is better than a mint Rare car thats now not AS original..... IMHO
As you said Clive its not aNational treasure so why try and make it look like one ;)

I agree with Clive, the only person who's going to know it's original paint is you and the people in the club, the average person who sees it down the street are just going to see the shabby paint and dings, i'd rather have a nice paint job, can't be bothered to worry about sell on value and stuff
