Very sweet looking car there, but I don't think I would be spinning it to 7.5K too often.

7500rpm

Post by R.RUNNER »

I think that 7500rpm is fine for a worked on small block as they rev much more easily than a big block, I rev my 440 ci to 7500 every time that I take it out. (r.runner)

7500 rpm is asking for trouble on a big or a small block unless you've got some good aftermarket parts in there. You guys must be running some serious camshafts to still be producing good power at that sort of engine speed.

Would 6-6.5K be most (modified)motors peak power???

Totally depends on the engine spec Rich, but as a generalisation, yes. Above that you need to be thinking of improved oiling, bearing clearances, more oil capacity. Not to mention lighter pistons, better rods and best quality rod bolts.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Just to clear things up, when I said it pulls all the way to 7500 doesn`t mean to say this is how I drive it. I respect my cars and enjoy them. This was put together using top quality components, however, the car is more likely to be seen chugging along at 4000 rpm with my 2 kids safely belted in place, cd player and air con on. For racing I have something else.
