Cracklin rose '71 Cuda

Post by AllKiller »

I know a few on here looked or heard about this and passed it up......

But the Crackiln Rose Cuda is now to live in Hertfordshire, after about 16 years of standing still, under cover....
My mate John and i went to see it and... :thumbright: :thumbright:
Looking Fine in Panther Pink.... and black front end
The 71 Grille is missing, but everything else seems to be there 8-)
71 Lights in the trunk, to replace 70's in the rear, easy fix.

Its great, needs paint and quite some TLC, but what a result, a 71 340 Cuda in very tidy shape,
It had been painted underneath at sometime and seems to have warded off any real nasties, to the Damp
Full interior, 2 motors, A 383 and 440 6 Pak, and more spares than you can shake a stick at ;)
And it Runs

Also, bar 71/72 its first two years , its been a Race car all its life 8-)
Rose brothers bought it in 72, and campaigned it with the 340 and then a 383, later a 440.
Check the fairly vintage Hurst shifter 8-) in amongst all that dust n dirt n Ch**y bits ??

So, it will undergo reviving and resto in our hands, not sure what route Johns gonna with it ??
But it will be back

Any info or old pictures would be appreciated, thanks :thumbright: :read2:

Any thoughts ??

Because it has been a race car for almost all its life and has an interesting history I personally would like to see it restored as the race car rather than as it left the factory. :)

I have pictures and some info on the car, I'll sort some stuff out when I get home. Ray Mumford didn't paint it Ivor, it was Tel Powney, I used to hang around with him when I was a kid.

Blue didn't it have a hemi in it. I think Garry Mills end up with the engine when he bought the Hemi convertible of him. If it is the same he got the hemi convertible and loads of spares in a swap for £2000 and a Triumph Stag

GReat find - AWESOME colour.
If it's been a race car since 73, then it would be great to see it brought back as a race car - maybe it would be worth more if it was restored to its early 70's glory days....
Just my opinion -
Where was the car out of interest?

Yes, it had a hemi with a tunnel ram on it. As you say Gary Mills bought the convertible and a job lot of parts including the Hemi. last I heard the engine was in Ashley Bells '65 Barracuda, lost track of it since then. You had the 10x15 ET's off the back of Cracklin' Rose didn't you Dave, what happened to them?
