Nice idea. Must admit, I think I would plump for a modern jobbie, hidden, that interfaces with my ipod leaving the original just for show. If you are happy with just the radio then go for it fella. :thumbright:

yeah i think your right Clivey , just chewing some ideas over really , going to go for a modern job as you say , hidden some where as well the original in the dash :thumbright: even thought of taking the front off a original none working thumb wheel 8 track ,use that to drop over the modern one in the stock location when not in use :-k but i think it would look like a bit of a pigs ear

I can't find the contact details but there used to be a guy on the US east coast doing coversions. A normal mini-jack line-in will connect to an i-pod headphone socket without the gain being too high. It should not be hard to wire in a socket at the correct part of any amplifier.

Actually. I have a feeling Sandy might know who would do it. My brain is too messed up to think why he might know but I just have a feeling he does.

There used to be a regular small ad in the back of Classic American magazine from somebody who used to restore and modify old car radios.
He used to offer upgrades to FM, high output conversions and MP3 player connectivity. I don't know if he still advertises there but I do remember he wasn't cheap.
