I only run a twelve , but it goes something like this................................

Set the controller , turn the gas on , roll up to burn out box , line lock on , warm tyres , line lock off , arm Nos , purge Nos , stage , trigger Nos , turn on fuel pump , floor it , eye on tach when shifting 3 on tree  , check oil pressure , listen for any strange noises , switch off Nos through gantry.

Gotta worry about manually shifting the GV this year.

The above is a walk in the park compared to the big boys , gotta respect em. 8-)

I doesnt last long, but theres plenty to keep you busy and you havent got long to win....meaning you have to be "good and fast everytime"....and thats the art,... or your on the trailer,

....you dont have 50+ laps to make up for your mistake, if you ever can, and worry about the how far the leader is ahead....in this sport you either ahead or you ve lost :thumbright:

Its seriously addictive, and those that slate it, have never tried it !!
...theres some ammo :D

Fire up, turn off rear brakes, roll round to far lane, the bloke in front is burning out so hold it before passing behind him and getting a stone through me window, he's finished, roll round the water, line up on some good rubber, reverse back, looking at Trusty Philth; more, more, more, stop, forward, forward, stop , thumb up, snick into 2. Look at the Starter, wave of hands, start me burn out, looking at Philth, hand circling, circling, circling, waves me out, I hold it an extra bit and drive it out hard! Stop! (On me own now!) Linelock off, rev the motor, flick drugs switch on and roll up to stage, purge as I roll, into prestage, purge again, into full stage and stamp on brakes. Stare at tree...................................YELLOWS! Boom! Mash the throttle as me other foot comes off the brake! Damn, that's hard! Shift light! Bang! Into second! Shift light! Bang! Into third! Shift light! Off the gas and roll out to the end of the track........WHAT'S THAT NOISE! Please don't say I've damaged the engine!!!!!

With our street cars running in the 11's (and 12s ;) ) it is definitely more fun doing it than watching it, but when you get to see the ProMods, Funnys and Top Fuel it is just an awesome display of sheer power! Nothing like it! (Not Super Gas though, that has been ruined by throttle stops and delay boxes, who wants to see a car launch, idle for 1/2 a second then floor it. Pants, mate!!)

Cheers that's what I thought. I don't knock anything that I've not tried, I suspect these people are probably jealous it the truth be known. But as we all know, you only get out of life what you put into it.

I'm hoping Duncan doesn't sell his Challenger this winter - maybe I'll have saved up enough for next winter :) :D
Well Ive never tried Drag Racing and Im sure as hell aint jealous! But Im not knocking it as I have never tried it, but it just does not interest me. Id like to give it a go one day but if that never happens Ill not cry :D Theres plenty of Racing car games on the market but i cant think of one Drag Racing game?? Why is that? Im sure when I do get around to trying it out Ill be a convert and blow even more money on the chase :thumbright:
I'm here because Im not all there!!

Save the tree's.........Burn Rubber!!

The other thing is as Kev said, from the benches 11/12's can look slow and boring....theyre not, by any strech of the imagination.

But the guys on the other forum will have read their cars do 11/12/13's and thats good enough for them...."nothing to prove"
But if they ever take them up the strip, and it runs a 14.7 when the "TIN" said 12.8...thats when their fun starts :banghead:

Only dabbled a few times- but definetly want some more track time this year one way or another

Does make some of the static car shows seem a bit dull though

On another forum that I visit, someone has just said that drag racing is the most boring thing imaginable. I think it looks like terrific fun and would love to have a go, but as I've never done it I can't really say.

Would anyone be able to put into words what it's like to drive a really powerful car down the 1/4 mile - how much fun is it and how much skill is involved?

Thanks Julian.

Have to admit, I once thought the same. Compared to circuit racing it may look a tad boring to the spectator.
I can guarantee that the person who said drag racing is boring has NEVER tried it :geek: I've been involved in motor sport for most of my life and up until three years ago had never been near a drag strip :o
I was hooked from my first cocked-up blast up the 1/4 mile 8-) 16 secs came down to 11s and as long as I'm able I will go as quick as I can (9s one day :? )
What does it feel like/how much fun is it? If you can remember your first BJ your about half way there ;)
I to once thought there was no skill involved......just plant your right foot and hang on .....right :? WRONG :!: There is a shed load of different skills involved AND extra LARGE SWEEDS are a requirement ;)
Ideally anyone who is of the belief that this sport is "boring" and "unskilled"
should ride shotgun with someone like Dunc ;) I would like to see and hear what there views are then eh  ;)

Don't knock it till you've tried it :thumbright: Oh yes, and that is not even mentioning the comoradery, atmosphere, sound, smell, the great people involved and the awesome time and larff we all have :thumbright: And then there's the night time..............PARTY-ON :help: :D :thumbright:
