But Im not knocking it as I have never tried it, but it just does not interest me. Id like to give it a go one day but if that never happens Ill not cryTheres plenty of Racing car games on the market but i cant think of one Drag Racing game?? Why is that? Im sure when I do get around to trying it out Ill be a convert and blow even more money on the chase
Do you really think that ANY video game is anything remotely like the real thing?
Of course a Drag racing game would be boring. Because it would NEVER be like it really is.
I have been around circuits a few times to try it. Saloon cars. Even had a few lessons in single seaters to see if I could get into Formula Ford until I found it doesn't matter how good you are - you still need a lot more financial backing than I was ever going to find.
Anyone can have a go at Drag Racing though. Having a go against people about the same skill level and car level as yourself is most rewarding. The speed does not matter. I am no more thrilled or scared at 150mph than I am at 30mph.
However accelerating hard on a Drag strip is thrilling. It is nothing like doing it on the public road. It is more like being on a roller-coaster. The faster your car is the steeper the roller-coaster you seem to be on.
Look at AndyRob on here.
He is a serious circuit racer with a very competitive (ex-touring) car. Yet now he has tried Drag racing he is well hooked.
Do you think he would be bothered with it if it was not a kick to do?
People that do driving games really annoy me to be honest. A guy I work with thinks he is great. Drives one of these new 160mph Astra things and on the PC and PS3 he is king.
Yet in real life he drives like a girl and he cannot reverse out of a parking space. I have to reverse the Rascal van out for him everytime we go out at work.
GET A LIFE and get yourself down to the Nats this July.

& hats off to Dunc , takes real dedication to run those times in that motor , much respect , also $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I did my first ever drag racing at the Pod in 2007 at the Nats. I dint have my RR ready to play so I took an old 3.0 Capri I had for some practise
I must say it was a blast. I was hooked from the first run. The Capri wasnt very fast but this didnt seem too important and felt that from that first run that i was racing against myself to get a better time. The first run was a 17.4 or something but during the course of the day my times got better and i manged a 16.9 after a few more try's . I didnt go mad cause I didnt want to brake the car but I did make the engine spin that day. At one point i managed to get a good start on a 71 Mach 1 Muzzy and he could not get it back. I could see him through the corner of my eye right beside me all the way to the finish line but he just couldnt pull ahead. When I got to the bottom of the strip and parked up some guy's came over to me and congratulated me on blowing away the Muzzy and they where shaking my hand. It was an incredible rush. But the scarist thing is if I just wanna keep going faster in the RR and blow the budget and become homeless

Julie did 2 runs in her 318 Dart, and came straight back to me and said "I want to race". This was someone who hated American cars until she had a drive of a Charger once.
She already has better reaction times than me, down into the .3's......
If you get a car that hooks hard, like her Dart, it is like a small bomb going off underneath you; total adrenaline. And its addictive

Did my first run at the 07 nats, had been there without my car the 3 years previous and was sick that i had no car to run, first time out missed the burnout box and tried to burn on the rubber! then had the reaction time of a koala! But the addrenaline was so much my throttle foot was shaking so much i nearly couldnt press the pedal!!! first rumn against a race dart who launched like a jet fighter and i was going to turn back! but he had steering issues and i crossed the line .01 sec infront!! thought i was the man
that was it for me, did a second run later and got a 15.8 in a 318 satellite which i thought was super was hoping for a mid 16 that weekend and a got better, so when i came home staright to the pc and bought me a duster for one purpose! Roll on next season!
