It was 1982 when I was offered a HemiCuda (but with the wrong engine fitted) for £1,300.

Yes, but then £16K would have bought you a really good house..............

My first house (2 up 2 down in a pit village) cost me £5,000 in 1979 and it was the best house in the village!

The Black 440-6 bird from the Sorn estate looks like it could be Dick Gransdens old car.He painted it black from its original B5.I think it was around 1980 when it was painted by someone in Sussex.Dick sold it to someone in East London who put it over a roundabout whilst racing.Lost track of the car after that.

Wasn`t the blokes name "HARPIE" that smashed it up? By the way it was Dick Gransden`s Superbird, now owned by JC, It was also owned by Chris Andrews.

:iagree: it was Dick's Superbird, I remember talking to Mike Lintern at American Autoparts when he pulled up in it...first real one I'd seen in the flesh and if I remember rightly it was only three or four years old then...I hear JC is getting a few little jobs done on the old bus, as we speak! ;)

Sadly I don't know who he sold it to, but I did hear about it scooting straight over a roundabout...I wonder if it was this Harpie fella he'll own up!
