correct procedure for adjusting front wheel bearings

help anybody know the correct proceedure for adjusting front wheel bearings? i.e torque setting & back the nut off 1/2 a flat etc :read2: :help:

free off the brakes if you have drums wined the adjusters to close them up so it does not give you a false reading , for discs open the pads up a bit buy pushing the pistons back abit ....... put the wheel on spin it as fast as you can , while torque -ing up the the nut , then go back one slot in the castle type tin nut cover ...... another way is to in stead of using a torque wrench , put a spanner on it while spinning the wheel , & rock the top & bottom of the wheel simultaneously , checking for wheel bearing play , aim for a minute bit of play , , then spin the wheel again & watch it till it stops , should slow down down down , & come to a rest ....... if it grabs at any point too tight , but only do this if you are familiar doing it this way

The key part of the waffle in the workshop manual is tighten it just to the point where there is no play - usually just finger tight with a pair of grips.
