My mind drifted back to the HRD last year after running a 12.01.
That once you start to get in the 11 and maybe there will be some door slammers aiming to get in the tens how safe are we if one of us goes tits up?
To my recollection we have only had one wall event in the last 5 years.
Lucky or what?
To keep the cars stock we resist fitting full harnesses and roll bars. we are running with half full road tanks and a few have auxiliary tanks in the boot.
No external shut off's or internal come to that.
How many drivers wearing fireproof knickers neck braces and gloves?
We have all seen the u tube vid's and most of these events happen mid track or not to far out of the staging point at what 60 to 80 MPH?
maybe long sleeved tee shirts, second hand helmets and an old pair of trainers does not cut it.

This is one of the reasons I designed my car around the 12 second mark in the first place.
And why I am sticking to about that level even though that is not deemed a fast car these days.

I only want to dip into the high 11s consistantly so that I can call it an 11 second car.
Faster than that and I would rather be in a cheaper car that was built for racing.

You are right. Normal street cars faster than 12 seconds are pushing their luck.

Adam, Adam, Adam. :D
Pete you make my point, there is no way you could consider your car standard and I noticed you were kitted up in the right gear, all credit to you.
But taking a car off the show and shine and running a 10 something in your shorts?

I figure you only get one pair of legs, and I quite like my wifes  .

I think each person has got to decide at what point the risk and impact of something going wrong merits more "exotic" kit.

I don't know many Show and shine cars that can run 10's, but even a 12 second car is pulling about 105mph, and if you hit something solid or your rubber trans pipes part company and oil your tyres, you are still going to have a bad day; and it could hurt more than just your wallet.

No worries Pete , we're all low budget working & spending $$$$$$$$$$$ on these motors , never seeing the $$$$$$$$ back.

Typical black charger thinking.
Spend a fortune on the latest gadgets, stroker kits and overdrive units, ect but wont spend £50 on a race suit and some nomex. 8-)
