First I have to apologise as I'm writing this on my mate's log in...probably against the rules.
I used to own the red Road Runner. I have watched this thread since it started, waiting for a reg number just in case it was that car!
The car was factory orange. I was the first registered owner in the UK in 1976 and bought it from a serviceman stationed over here. He had owned it from new. It was parked in the street unused on the Rayners Lane estate in NW London (Jim Wilson will know that area well) outside his mothers flat. I knocked on doors until I found her and managed to buy it from him. Given it's location which was pretty iffy I was amazed that it hadn't been touched by the local kids.
It had a few period mods but was very much original with a dented front nearside wing. Had a lot of fun with it and then sold it to a local Harrow guy, Alan Evans. I know it got sold after that to a baker in South Ealing and then went up north. Lost touch then. I remember being told down at Tony Dickson's one night that somebody had gone to look at it when for sale some years later and it was fairly rusty.
I also have a friend with a black 383 71 which he's owned for some years. That one appeared on Ebay last year as he planned to sell it. Haven't seen him for a while so not sure if it sold.
Sorry to intrude.....
Steve Hale.

Blimey Moopar, - I must know you! I remember back in the 70's the guy that owned JRK worked at Ripspeed in Pinner, i've forgotten his name, - tall with black hair, was it Alan Evans? I've got a feeling it was. So i reckon you didn't keep the car for long. Then as I remember, it was sold to a bloke with lots of frizzy blond hair in South Harrow. He had it for a while, then it disappeared.

Jim, you're kind of right. We chatted at the Harrow Monday night sessions back in the seventies. I also had Harleys. Am a close friend of big George and have been with him and chatted to you on various occasions over the years but I am not a memorable person! Was heavily involved with the Tri Chevy thing back then and then went on to racing doorslammers. Have had a few deviations into the Mopar world over time!
That car left it's mark on me as I've always had a passion for pistol grip shifters since owning it.
It was Alan Evans at Ripspeed and no I didn't own the car for too long. Sold it to finance a 56 Chevy.
Is there any way I can get hold of a copy of the Street Machine article?...would be nice for the collection.
