How to measure npt size's?

Post by Rebel »

I have a carter fuel pump to fit as a replacement for the original factory Mopar one. The Carter pump has screw in threads on the inlet and outlet, the original one doesn't. I'm looking for 2 of something like the pic below, but don't know how to measure the npt size, my fuel pipe is 5/16 if it helps at all

TIA

1/4" or 3/8" usually. Trip to the local hydraulic pipe maker with pump maybe.
