proportioning valve - metering valve - safety switch

Post by Anonymous »

I've just converted my Challenger from drums, to a power disc set up using the parts from another which I broke up. I thought I had it licked, but when I checked the manual for the bleeding procedure I became baffled with talk of PRESURE METERING VALVES, PROPORTIONING VALVES & HYDRAULIC SAFETY SYSTEM SWITCHES.
I've left all the pipes exactly as they were when the drums were fitted, and replaced the master cylinder with new. The part refered to in the manual as a safety switch I swaped for the one from the disc car, even though they looked exactly the same.
The whole system is now as it was on the scrap car, but theres nothing to call a proportioning valve, or a presure metering valve. Are these all one and the same? Or do I need to get some more bits before I bleed it? :help:

Go ahead and bleed it, the proprtioning valve and safety switch are contained in the distribution block you fitted.

When testing, the fronts should lock just slightly before the rears.

If the rears lock first then you need to fit an adjustable proportioning valve in the line going to the rear wheels.

The stock brake proportioning was approximate at best.
