When Chrysler loans out new cars for films like this they usually take them back for inspection later.
They look at all the damage and abuse to see how well the car has taken it. Or not.
Then the cars are destroyed.

For a while in the 90s there were a couple of cars doing the rounds in the USA claiming to be one of the cars from the original film. All documented of course with statements from the original owners etc.
All of it total rubbish.

The cars from the remake do still exist though.

Two of the cars from the remake are in Floyd Garrets muscle car museum, he loaned / hired them out for the film

I think Newman looks well for his age... How old must he be now? Must have been pushin' 40 ( if not over)when he was in VP
