What unfortunate event occurred at the 55th Indy 500, that overshadowed an event that Dodge would otherwise have been proud of?

Well done Tony. 1970 Challenger convertible in white, lost control on exit from track and ploughed into the spectators.

Actually it was a Hemi Orange vert, not white, and it was 1971, not 1970.
Other than that, spot on :P :D

Actually the local Dodge dealers ponied up that year, and the car was driven by one of the dealers (Eldon *** IIRC), rather than a race car driver. He put cones out for his braking point in the pit lane, but someone moved them and he overcooked it

Surprising really cos thos brakes were so good.....

Damn. Innaccuracies in the book. Deffo said spectators got hit n killed.

Anyway, I thought there was no such thing as a 71 chally Vert. Thought it was only the 70 line up

Oh, and the book said it was white n all.

Sure Clive ;)

(A lot of people make that mistake - there was no RT vert in 71 and they remember that as no vert at all)
