In all serious mate, about 6 years ago (ish) I was wandering around the Canary Wharf car show (they have one every year and all the TOP manufacturers bring their cars up and park em around the island. Zonda, Lambo Bently etc.) Anyway they had one of them Bentlys up there on show. Milled ally dash, fender scoops, louvred bonnet, it was mean as hell. It was about £229,000. What made me laugh was that you could buy it on terms. It was something like £40k down, 5K per month for two years then £50k bubble at the end. It was laughable. How much money do you need to earn to be able to to do that?

about my favorite aston as well, i just dont rate them anythin like a bentley , i have owned an aston and may do as well again in the future but i find them very kit carish very hard lookin mtr

I love the look of that Aston, but my illusion was shattered when I got to have a drive in one.
That's probably the reason I would never go in a Countach, as I dont want to ruin my boy hood dream.

Had the opportunity to drive a Murcielago last year, now that was right up there in my dream cars and I was most definitly not let down and was left drooling in a quivering heap

Gotta say Clivey, I do like some Astons, but i would`nt climb over a Bentley to get to one

My expectations were more of a sports car, than a sporty saloon type.

I'm pretty sure it was a 5.3 litres, but it didnt have the same pullin power I would associate with say a small block chevy.
I guess some would say it was solidly built, but to me seemed to sluggish.

Even though seats were comfortable, I could not seem to get a comfortable driving position to suit me. Gearbox was OK once warmed up a bit, but clutch was heavy & very juderry. Fast shifting was OK, as seemed to shift with slight dab of the clutch once box was warmed up.

Overall car size seems a lot bigger when your on the inside, but thats probably due to me not finding a comfortable seating position. I guess my opinion would of been different if I had judged car driving on a nice free flowing road, as opposed to the trafffic/contaflow in Kent.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is one of the best looking/designed body shapes, just that the rest did not live up to my expectations.

Again it most likely goes back to my child hood, when Brett Sinclair was racing Danny Wilde in the Persuasders.

Oh, how I loved how that car then and all that went with it

your about spot on mark, my aston was a AMV8 auto 5.3 quad cam, 4 down draught webers, it was a slug off the line, no torque if you got it revvin it would start to pull reasonably i reckon a high stall converter would wake the auto,s up a bit handlin was great i could never get mine fast enough to worry about the handlin reckon with 500 horse they would be a great tool, much better built than a jensen, but still a bit parts bin made up,
reckon the engines are tough i had a rattle in mine that drove me mad, so one night late on me and a mate thrashed the Bananarama! out off it up and down the local 3 mile bypass till the rattle showed itself more, it did busted valve spring changed that out and it was sorted

Love this thread, I worked for Bentley up in Crewe for about 2 and a half years. It was a cool place, 6.75 litre twin turbo's burbling all over the place and quite a few mean one off's as well. The best for me was a 2 door coupe with roll cage & side exit exhausts - that thing is evil and is still lurking the grounds somewhere.
There was also an Audi A4 with big wheels and a huge bonnet scoop, it is rumoured to have the W12 twin turbo lump in it.
Bentley's are truly awesome!!
