WHAT A LOT OFF RUBISH,about breakin them engines in, keep the revs up, bed the rings in and cam, after about an hours running, oil n filter and get on it, iif the rings have not bedded in in that time they never will, what else can go wrong, bottom end would grenade straight away if it was going to, get on it people

I was always told it takes a few hours/few hundred miles to break in the rings and bearings correctly.
THEN change the oil you first fired her up on.

Just what I was taught. :dontknow:

dave remember the old running in days please pass on the back window :D that was with about 45 hp as well, i reckon if you get the rings bedded in thats about it, nothing can alter on the crank n bearings etc, if it was going to fail i am sure it would fail even on a light cycling off the mtr, i do like to run em up bed the rings in n cam, recheck everything and get perhaps 50- road miles on it building up the rpm,s never revvin the balls off it, drop oil n filter and the jobs ready to go,
everyone has different opinions as we know its what you feel works best for you

To be honest Dunc. The last time i dd my motor I did just what you said.

Run her for 20-30 mins on the driveway. Varying the rpms.

Then took her high up into northumberland and back. Maybe 40 miles all told?

That was it really. I didn't have time to do anything else.

But i didn't go straight out and start doing burnouts either.

well looks like we did what dunc said,as that was what kiwi told us,i had put 20 miles on her before i did that burn out  but that was not the first one :D
we let her run varying rev's for around 30/40 mins then changed oil and filter,so i'm not that much of a bad girl, just a bit bad ;)
